  • Increased the number of police and fire squads for our expanding population and high demand areas
  • Olathe Fire Department is one of only 234 (out of 46,042 fire districts nationwide) to hold the distinctive Class 1 ISO rating for providing excellence in service, thereby decreasing fire insurance rates for Olathe citizens
  • Opening temporary Fire Station 8 on October 1st
  • Collaborated with Olathe School District in the development of the 21st Century Program for Public Safety at Olathe West High School

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Decreased mill levy included in the 2018 budget helping citizens to save on their property taxes
  • No increase in the mill levy in the past 20 years
  • AA+ Bond Rating with Standard & Poor’s and Fitch rating agencies
  • Implemented a two-year budget cycle supporting long range planning and evaluation of program results
  • Since 2016, Olathe has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

  • Completed the award winning Olathe Community Center
